Fratellifresh at Renaissance Mumbai is come up with a new Italian menu which contains great food choices that can tickle your fancy, showcasing a brillent Italian experience. If you are an Italian food enthusiast; this is a place for you. Chef Cristian Cabrera, who conceptualized his empire in that busy kitchen of Renaissance, looks after every small detail on the plate and makes sure that every dish is flavorfully cooked and presented to perfection.
His Italian background and his native taste buds elegantly upscale this culinary rendezvous. He says that his food (recipes) are influenced by his grandma; that explains his emotional attachment to every dish he served. I was so impressed when chef Cristian, himself served us all his risotto; making sure it remains hot and creamy, his wooden spatula moved like a wand in the risotto pan. It was more than delicious and was a sheer joy.
My Italian food treat was an invite from a friend, A bloggers meet up at Renaissance on the launch of their new Italian menu; the only scary part was the weekend traffic. It was just a_good_ lucky day for me; that I reached in time with no crazy traffic on JVLR highway. Executive chef Mr. Sandeep Pande and Expat Italian chef Cristian with their team gave us a warm welcome note.
An artfully displayed and tempting desserts table on my right caught my eye first; (dessert display is my….). The Antipasti (salad display) showcased a wide variety of vegetarian salads, dressings and cold cuts and many more. The displayed culinary trendiness spectrum was a treat for eyes and for our cameras as well.
These two tables tastefully reflected and complemented the ambiance, with innovative notes. Everything in sync and in right balance with a nice bit of aristocratic sophistication.
Italian food and wine are probably as famous as Italy’s artistic and historical assets and Fratellifresh proves it gracefully. The place offers an extensive Italian focused wine list, which is a perfect complement to whatever food you indulge in.
We were served the oven fresh-baked pizzas in both vegetarian and non vegetarian versions. If you like Neapolitan style pizza, that foldable ones with light crust, you will love it here.
Next on the table was Spaghetti in Arrabiata sauce with seafood ( Prawns and calamari); which my fellow bloggers seemed to enjoy. Being a vegetarian, I just clicked, but the lush of tomato based Arrabiata said it all. There was lobster Tortellini and boiled Panzeritti. The Panzerotti came with a scrumptious filling consisting of lamb that was cooked in a red wine reduction and blended with blue cheese and mushroom ragout. Another beautiful preparation in this new menu was LOBSTER TORTELLINI served on a bed of pea puree drizzled with thyme butter and lobster bisque.
I came to know that the all the pasta served was made fresh in the kitchen. Not using a boxed ready-made pasta is a what a true Italian chef would opt for. I was told that Chef Cristian wears a white chef coat when he prepares pasta, and black chef coat all other days. There is the logic!
On the table we were served – Vegetarian Risotto, Seafood Risotto and Risotto with asparagus sauce Risotto. My favorite was the asparagus sauce risotto with Grana Padano cheese. The main course was Eggplant Parmigiana, Chicken Cacciatore (where chicken was cooked with onions, garlic, tomatoes) It looked very moist and tender.
Aqua Pazza was a beautiful looking seaed seabass flavored with fresh fruits. I tasted all the vegetarian dishes, and most pf them turned out good. Seeing my blogger friends I can ensure you that the all the non vegetarian food served was equally good too.
I kept room for the deserts and I think that was the best part of the evening. My favorite one was the Lemon Meringue (small petit serves) with the right balance of sweet and tangy goodness. The white chocolate Fantasy was a bit more on the sweeter side; but over all a good dessert. Chocolate Guru was the one every one on my table liked. And of course the coffee which I always like at the end of my meal. Overall I had good time with food and friends. I totally recommend visiting Fratellifresh at Renaissance for good Italian treat.
