Scones - Eggless Recipe

Scones are small, light and fluffy cakes that make a lovely breakfast treat.Scones are an ideal accompaniment to a cup of coffee or tea and can be made plain or with nuts, dried fruit, chocolate and even oats .You can be very creative with them! Scones – Eggless Recipe – are very simple to prepare and do not require any fancy equipment or ingredients. Plain scones are traditionally served warm, split open and topped with butter or jam. However many of the Scone recipes which are flavored with fruits spices or nuts are best eaten plain.

Using buttermilk makes a lighter, more bread like scone, where as using egg in the recipe will give the scone little cake like texture. In this Scones – Eggless Recipe, I am using buttermilk. These scones contain dried cranberries with chocolate chips, they pair together nicely. People who are looking for scone recipe with dates and apricots click on the link here ——Scones

Now a few very important things that I would like to share are

The correct mixing of ingredients, which is very crucial in making of an excellent scone. Use a pastry cutter or two knifes to cut the butter into the flour and then use your hands to bring the dough all together.Mixing by hand will prevent over mixing, other wise it will end up in a hard and doughy scone.

Another very important part of the recipe is that the butter should be cold so that when it is worked into the flour mixture –  it will become small, flour coated crumbs and not a smooth dough. This will provide a wonderful, delicate, and flaky texture to the scones.

If you’re using frozen fruit be sure to drain your fruit very well before you mix it into your batter.

If you’re adding fruit, chocolate or other sweet ingredients to a basic scone recipe, use less sugar.

While shaping scones gently pat the edges of the scone to make it round. Don’t compress the dough.

Keep the scones as cold as possible until they are ready to go into the oven. This will make them rise better.

Whew !
