Sometimes when we want to celebrate and yet don’t want to insanely indulge into heavy delicious foods. This dessert can be an answer to that conflicting mind situation. It’s yoghurt mousse with honey caramelised figs on the top. Another plus is – you can very easily prepare this at home, even if you are not a pro in the kitchen territory.
You can’t have it … Today, we are labelling many food items HEALTHY in out ignorance. In my experience, the so-called healthy foods, make you fat. I will be brutally honest with you if you are on a journey of shredding few kilos. We subconsciously overindulge, when the packet says words like healthy, natural, rich in ….. Blablaa blaaa
My only suggestion is – Be careful of the quantity you are consuming. Avoid packaged/processed food. Every meal cooked at home is healthy. For instant take this yoghurt mousse with honey caramelized Figs. It has an equal share of honey and heavy cream into it. So don’t assume its less in calories.
But the pluses are – made at home, 50% of the dessert is yoghurt. 50% of the sweetness is from fruit Figs … Figs are known for are being very high in fibre, consider them a healthy snack.
So overall a good decent dessert, but overindulging can be a problem. So take your call. Enjoy life, enjoy food, but be mindful of what and how much you are indulging in.
Yoghurt mousse mostly is made using gelatine. Which I think is not a required step. Gelatine is required when making desserts which are un-moulded. Something like a cheesecake. Where we want the cake to hold the shape after unmoulding it. If we are serving in a glass or a bowl … Just skip it. I mean why not?
But remember to use full-fat milk hung yoghurt. Make sure its thick and creamy. Use a wire whisk to beat it into a smooth creamy consistency.
We also require heavy cream, that can be whipped into stiff peaks.
I have also used Ossoro Fig and honey flavour Ossoro Fig & Honey, 30 mlto enrich the flavour of my yoghurt mousse. It is incredibly rich and enhances the flavours of the mousse. Just a few drops from this bottle made it all yum.

1 cup plain whole-milk hung yoghurt
1 cup heavy cream whipped (sweet)
1 tablespoon of honey
Few drops of Ossoro fig and honey flavour
6 fresh figs stem removed, halved lengthwise

Fold whipped cream into the yoghurt mixture using a rubber spatula. Refrigerate until chilled and set at least 1 hour.
Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Toss the figs in the butter and sprinkle with brown sugar and honey. Place the figs in the pan, cut side down. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown. Turn the figs. Remove the pan from the heat and let stand for 2 minutes.
