Panforte is a traditional Italian dessert containing fruits and nuts, and resembles a fruitcake. Actually it’s a combination of cake and candy. There is a very interesting play of flavors – a small bite on a panforte is good enough to prove that. You are sure to fall for this amazing looking dessert.

I added this wonderful recipe into the Diwali gift ideas list because it’s rich, very unique, wonderfully flavorful, looks graceful and, on top of all, will stay for several weeks. Make it at home and gift a delight to your friends; you will be asked the recipe for sure. Cute looking wraps add to the festive feel as well.

Another interesting point in this Panforte Recipe is that this can easily be customized. Choose the dry fruits, nuts, and spices the way you like. Its gonna be fantastic.

If you really want clean cuts – Keep in the fridge over night all covered. Then Use a sharp knife to cut into the slice.

This is fairly an easy recipe to put together but still few points to read before the bake:
1. Choose a spring-form pan to bake – if you don’t have one, a tart pan will do, so it gets easy to take out after the bake.
2. While making the sugar and honey syrup, don’t stir. This is necessary to prevent the crystallization.
3. Roast the dry fruits before adding. This makes a big difference in the flavor.
4. Black pepper leaves a bit spicy after taste which works great with the richness of the panforte but can be easily avoided.
5. When you see small bristles on the top and around the edges while baking – that is an indicator of the doneness . You will also have a chocolaty, nutty fragrances when it’s fully baked.
6. Remove the side of the pan, when the cake is still little warm. This helps.
